A trip down art history at the Bonnefantenmuseum

At the Bonnefantenmuseum (name originating from the french ‘bons enfants’) in Maastricht you find masterpieces of both old masteres, like Rubens and Van Dyck, as contemporary art. In the presentation of the works the museum collaborates with various private collections making the variety of the exhibition even more interesting.

Next to the fixed collection there are regular temporary exhibitions that zoom in on works with specific techniques like photography or video or from specific periods in art history like the revolution in Russian paintings.

The museum itself was designed by the Italian architect Aldo Rossi who took the tower of the building and turned it into one of the most recognizable eye catchers of Maastricht.
