There’s no shortage of big names in the Gemeentemuseum (Municipal Museum) in The Hague. How about Picasso and Monet? The many galleries throughout the museum are filled with everything ranging from photography to paintings, fashion and Delftware.
But what the museum is most known for is that it has the largest collection of Mondriaan works. This artist, born in Amersfoort in 1872, is world famous for his abstract works with horizontal and vertical black stripes alternated with red, blue and yellow squares.
The building itself is also a piece of art, by H.P. Berlage, that supports the presentation of the artworks inside by it’s spacious and well lit set up.
