Janskerkhof Utrecht

The Janskerkhof (Saint John’s Cemetery) in Utrecht goes back to the 11th century when the area was walled and only accessible to the ecclesiastical community.

At least one reason for a visit to the square today are the various beautiful 17th and 18th century houses that surround the square, with quite a few of them on the list of national heritage monuments.

Another reason for a visit to the square are the many lively terraces that can be found on and around the square. Among others the bars Broers en Zussen which are popular destinations during the nightlife in Utrecht.
