Merely 25 minutes away from Den Bosch you can find Kamp Vught, a former SS camp in World War II. Despite not much remaining of the camp except for the ruines of a crematory, a visit still gives you the opportunity to learn about the history that took place here.
You can visit the reconstructed living quarters, the crematory, guard towers and Camp Vught National Memorial. This camp was the only SS camp in the Netherlands.
Directly after the war the camp served as a army base and today it houses among others a prison. This is the reason why for instance the guard posts are lower than they were during the war, otherwise visitors would be able to see over the prison walls.
