The Square of Our Dear Lady, named after the church at the square, has in the past been chosen as the most beautiful square of the Netherlands and today remains a sight to see while visiting Maastricht.
Besides a great place to relax on one of its many terraces, the square has quite a bit of history to offer as well. Like the Basilica of Our Dear Lady of course, but also the Wolwaag (The Wool Weigh House) with its 18th century front.
Another remarkable building on the square is the Huis met de Pelikaan (House with the Pelican) which is named after the pelican which is one of the images sculpted in its front.
