Between Artis and the Oosterpark you find the Tropenmuseum, part of the Royal Tropical Institute, in a beautiful historical building, opened in 1926.
The collection of the museum encompasses an impressive number of musical instruments, masks and pottery from cultures all around the world.
You discover everything from the Bolivian carnival to the Dutch colonialism and New Guinea to the African savanna at the Tropenmuseum. For the kids there’s the junior version of the museum with an extensive program full of activities.
